Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming one of the hottest topics in the world and is disruptively
influencing the life of a common man and the IT world. There is a lot of hype and curiosity
which has been generated by it. This has also started influencing industries. Sensing the
advantages of this technology many manufacturing and Industrial product companies are moving
at a very rapid pace in adopting the IOT technology into their manufacturing processes and in
their products and appliances. Thus, the IOT is set to bring a major “Business Disruption” in the
way in which the manufacturing, product design and equipment operation will be done in near
future. According to Gartner’s study, the world will be a more deeply and intimately connected
place, with an estimated 7.3 billion tablets, PCs and Smartphone’s, by the end of 2016. By the
year 2020, IoT is likely to expand at an even more rapid rate – to 26 billion connected devices
around the globe. The most conservative independent estimates place the spending on the IoT
worldwide to reach $500 billion by 2020. More optimistic predictions of the value created by the
IoT range as high as $15 trillion of global GDP by 2030.
